Zu Beginn
Einführung
Der Flughafen Maastricht-Aachen hat seine Wurzeln im Zweiten
Weltkrieg, als das US Engineer Corps das Advanced Landing Ground
Y-44 als Frontlinie für Bomber und Aufklärungsflieger gebaut hat.
Direkt nach dem Krieg war der Flughafen weiterhin sehr beschäftigt,
da das niederländische Straßennetz stark beschädigt war. Selbst als
der Straßenverkehr wieder funktionierte, wurde entschieden,
Maastricht-Aachen zu erhalten und als Regionalflughafen einzuset-
zen. Er wurde immer wieder ausgebaut und EUROCONTROL nutzt ihn
als Basis. Der Flughafen steht gut da; die Passagier- und Frachtgüter-
zahlen steigen stetig.
Der Flughafen hat noch einmal an Bedeutung gewonnen, als die
Billigfluglinien begannen, von dort zu fliegen. Seine Nähe zu Belgien
und Deutschland sowie zu vielen großen Städten machten ihn zu
einem attraktiven Ziel für Unternehmen wie Ryanair oder German-
Wings. Um die multinationale Bedeutung hervorzuheben, wurde der
Flughafen von „Vliegveld Beek“ zu „Maastricht-Aachen“ umbenannt
– mit großem Erfolg. Mehr als die Hälfte der Fluggäste sind heute
Deutsche.
Systemanforderungen
Um die Szenerie „Maastricht-Aachen“ möglichst störungsfrei
anfliegen zu können, benötigen Sie:
• Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V4
• Betriebssystem: Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10 (64bit)
• Prozessor: Quad-Core-CPU mit 3,5 GHz
• Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB DDR4-RAM
• Grafikkarte: 2 GB mit DirectX 11
Installation und Deinstallation
Die Installation ist einfach. Entpacken Sie die Datei, die Sie herunter-
geladen haben, starten Sie die exe-Datei und folgen Sie den Anwei-
sungen auf dem Bildschirm. Stellen Sie sicher, dass P3D geschlossen
ist. Wir empfehlen, Ihr System zuvor neu zu starten. Sie müssen
außerdem als Administrator angemeldet sein. Nach der Installation
kann es hilfreich sein, die Festplatte zu defragmentieren (allerdings
nicht, wenn Sie eine SSD nutzen!). Beachten Sie, dass die Dateien
während der Installation personalisiert werden. Wenn Sie sie also
teilen, teilen Sie Ihre persönlichen Daten mit.
Nach der Installation wird der Aerosoft Launcher starten und installiert
oder aktualisiert werden.
Die Deinstallation sollte niemals manuell erfolgen, sondern immer
über die Systemsteuerung - Programme deinstallieren.

Den Flughafen finden
Sie können den Flughafen über seinen Namen (Maastricht-Aachen),
den Stadtnamen (Maastricht) oder den ICAO-Code (EHBK) finden.
Charts
Mit diesem Produkt wird eine Version von NavDataPro Charts
mitgeliefert. Sie ist komplett funktional, kann allerdings nur die Charts
für Maastricht-Aachen anzeigen. Selbstverständlich sollten Sie diese
nicht für die reale Luftfahrt verwenden!
Display-Einstellungen
Um die Szenerie-Einstellungen zu ändern, gehen Sie zu Settings ->
Display. Wir haben die folgenden Screenshots mit den von uns
empfohlenen Einstellungen eingerichtet.

Der Avatar Frank
In Prepar3D können Sie Frank, unseren Piloten, als Avatar benutzen
(siehe die P3D-Dokumentation für Informationen zu Avataren). Wenn
Sie ein Flugzeug auswählen, können Sie den Avatar mitladen lassen.
Frank kann mit jedem Flugzeug geladen werden. Er kann still stehen,
gehen, rennen, in die Hocke gehen, gehockt gehen, wieder aufste-
hen, springen, schwim¬men und fallen; all dies über die normale
P3D-Steuerung. Um den Avatar erscheinen zu lassen, nutzen Sie den
Befehl [Umsch]+[Strg]+[E] in einer Außenansicht eines Flugzeugs oder
Fahrzeugs. Sie können den Avatar dann nutzen, um die Szenerie zu
erkunden.

Starting off
Introduction
Maastricht Aachen airport has its roots in the Second World War
when the US Engineer Corps created Advanced Landing Ground Y-44
as a front line airport for fighter bombers and recce aircraft. Directly
after the war is was still busy as the road network of the Netherlands
was severely damaged. But when car travel became easier it was
decided to keep the airport open and to turn it into a regional airport.
It was steadily upgraded and EUROCONTROL decided to use the
airport as its base. It’s now doing very well with growing passenger
and freight amounts.
The moment the low cost airlines started to operate the airport got a
huge boost. Located close to the Belgium and German border and
close to many major cities it attracted companies like RyanAir and
GermanWings. To increase the multinational idea the airport was
renamed from “Vliegveld Beek” to Maastricht-Aachen Airport. With
good success as more than half the passengers are now German.
System Requirements
In order for the scenery “Maastricht X” to run as smoothly as
possible, you need the following:
• Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V4.1
• Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10 (64bit)
• Processor: Quad-Core CPU with 3.5 GHz
• Memory: 8 GB DDR4 RAM
• Graphics card: 2 GB with DirectX 11
Installation and Removal
Installation is simple. Unzip the file that you downloaded, start the
exe file and follow the instructions on your screen. Make sure
Prepar3D is closed and we do advise you to reboot your system
before installing. Make sure you are logged on as Administrator on
the machine! After installing it can help to defragment your hard disk
(but do not do so if you have installed it on an SSD). Do note that the
files are personalized on installation. When you share them with
others you also share personal details.
After installation has finished the Aerosoft Launcher will start and it
will be installed (or updated).
Removal should never be done manually but only using the software
removal applet you will find the Windows Control panel.

Technical advice
Finding the Airport
You will find the airport using either the airport name (Maastricht
Aachen), the city name (Maastricht) or the airport ID (EHBK).
Charts
We have added a version of our NavDataPro Charts program to this
product. It is fully functional but can only display the charts for
Maastricht-Aachen. Of course the charts in this manual should never
be used for real aviation!
Display Settings
In order to change your scenery settings, go to Settings -> Display. We
have set up the options in the following screenshots with the settings
we recommend for using this scenery.

The Avatar Frank
In Prepar3D V3 (or later) you will be able to use Frank, our pilot, as
the avatar (see the P3D documentation about information on avatars).
When selecting an aircraft you can also select the avatar to be loaded.
You can load Frank with any aircraft. He is able to stand idle, walk,
run, stand to crouch, walk while crouching, crouch to stand, jump,
swim and fall, all using the default P3D commands. To spawn the
avatar go to any external view of an aircraft or vehicle and use the
[Shift]-[Ctrl]-[E] command. You can then use the avatar to explore the
scenery.
