Der Flughafen
Diese Erweiterung ist eine realistische Darstellung des Flughafens Cha-
nia „Ioannis Daskalogiannis“ (LGSA) für den Microsoft Flight Simula-
tor.
Der internationale Flughafen Chania, Kreta (ICAO: LGSA, IATA: CHQ)
befindet sich im Westen Kretas. Er befindet sich 14 km nordöstlich
der Stadt Chania, auf der Halbinsel Akrotiri, und ist nach Ioannis
Daskalogiannis benannt, dem Anführer der Revolution in der Region
Sfakia im Jahr 1770.
Der Flughafen LGSA dient sowohl dem zivilen als auch dem militä-
rischen Bereich. Der zivile Bereich befindet sich nördlich der Lande-
bahn und wird seit 2018 von Fraport betrieben. Der südliche Flugha-
fenbereich wird von der Hellenic Air Force betrieben.
Er verfügt über eine einzige, 3.348 m / 10.982 ft lange Asphaltpiste
mit der Bezeichnung 11/29, die Flugzeuge bis zur Boeing 747, C-5
Galaxy und Antonov AN-124 abfertigen kann. Zwei Hauptrollwege
verbinden die Betriebsflächen mit der Landebahn.
Zwei Rollwege verbinden die Flughafeneinrichtungen mit der
Start- und Landebahn. Der südliche Rollweg kann als Landebahn mit
der Bezeichnung 11L/29R genutzt werden, wenn die Hauptrollbahn
nicht in Betrieb ist.
Geschichte
Im Jahre 1967 wurde der erste Passagierterminal gebaut, 1974
landete der erste internationale Flug am Flughafen Chania. Der
heutige Terminal wurde im Jahr 2005 gebaut und erhielt seine
derzeitige Gestaltung 2018. Der alte Terminal (abgebildet in der
Szenerie) verbleibt in seiner Position (westlich vom heutigen Terminal)
und wird teilweise von den Flughafendiensten genutzt.
Im Herbst 2018 wurde ein neues Vorfeld mit weiteren Flugzeug-Park-
positionen, die Pushback benötigen, (25 anstatt neun) gestaltet.
Dieses Vorfeld wird in der Szenerie dargestellt.
Aktivität
AEGEAN Airlines, Olympic Air und Sky Express fliegen an jedem Tag
im Jahr vom und zum Athens International Airport (LGAV/ATH).
AEGEAN Airlines und Olympic Air fliegen ebenfalls während des
ganzen Jahres vom/zum Thessaloniki International Airport (LGTS/
SKG). Ryanair fliegt ganzjährig vom/zum Paphos International Airport
(LCPH/PFO).
Im Sommer empfängt der Flughafen über einhundert Flüge pro Tag,
die meisten aus Nordeuropa und Skandinavien. Die häufigsten Airlines
sind TUI fly, FINNAIR, SAS, Thomas Cook, Norwegian, Ryanair, British
Airways, Jet2, Condor, Eurowings, EasyJet und Smartwings.
Die häufigsten Flugzeuge hier sind Airbus A319/A320/A321/ A330,
Boeing B737(alle Versionen)/B757/B767/B787. Der Personenverkehr
erreichte 3.000.000 im Jahr 2018.

The Airport
This product is a realistic representation of Chania “Ioannis Daskalogi-
annis Airport” (LGSA) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) platform.
Chania, Crete International Airport (ICAO: LGSA, IATA: CHQ) is found
in western Crete. It is located 14 km north-east of the city of Chania,
in the Akrotiri peninsula.
It is named after Ioannis Daskalogiannis, the leader of the revolution
of the Sfakia region in 1770.
LGSA airport serves both civilian and military activity. The civilian area
is located northern of the runway and is operated by Fraport since
2018. The southern airport area is operated by Hellenic Air Force.
It has a single, 3.348 m / 10.982 ft long asphalt runway, designated
11/29. It can serve aircrafts up to Boeing 747, C-5 Galaxy and
Antonov AN-124. Two main taxiways connect the operation fields
with the runway.
Two taxiways connect the airport facilities with the runway. The
southern taxiway can be used as a runway with designation 11L/29R
when the main runway is not operational.
History
The first passenger terminal was constructed in 1967 and in 1974 the
first international flight landed there. The current terminal was
constructed in 2005 and received its present layout in 2018. The old
terminal (depicted in the scenery) remains in position (western from
the one now in use) and is partially used by the airport’s services.
During the autumn of 2018 a new apron layout was built, with more
aircraft parking positions (twenty-five instead of nine) requiring
pushback. This is the layout depicted in this scenery.
Activity
AEGEAN Airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express fly from and to Athens
International Airport (LGAV/ATH) every day throughout the year.
AEGEAN Airlines and Olympic Air fly from/to Thessaloniki Interna-
tional Airport (LGTS/SKG) also throughout the year. Ryanair flies from/
to Paphos International Airport (LCPH/PFO) throughout the year.
During summer the airport receives more than one hundred flights
per day mostly from northern Europe and Scandinavia. Most common
airlines are TUI fly, FINNAIR, SAS, Thomas Cook, Norwegian, Ryanair,
British Airways, Jet2, Condor, Eurowings, EasyJet, and Smartwings.
Most common aircrafts operating here are Airbus A319/A320/A321/
A330, Boeing B737(all versions)/B757/B767/B787. The passenger
traffic reached 3.000.000 in 2018.
