Montage
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den Sie das Modul einbauen wollen aus und trennen Sie ihn von der Netz-
spannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker.
Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse des Computers.
Verbinden Sie das RS232-Kabel mit dem Modul, achten Sie auf den richtigen Anschluss (keine Gewalt
anwenden).
Das Modul kann jetzt in einen freien M.2-Port eingebaut werden.
Das Modul ist USB-basiert. Durch die Aussparungen in der Kontaktleiste des Moduls passt
dieses nur in einen M.2-Port mit der Codierung „Key A+E“, „Key A“ oder „Key E“. Diese bieten
sowohl einen PCIe- als auch einen USB-Port.
Wenn der M.2-Port keine USB-Verbindung ermöglicht, so ist der Einbau hier nicht möglich.
Das Modul wird leicht schräg gehalten und in den M.2-Port gesteckt. Achten Sie dabei auf die Orientierung
der Platinenleiste zum M.2-Port. Anschließend ist es nach unten zu klappen und festzuschrauben. Je nach
M.2-Port muss dazu vorher ein geeigneter Abstandshalter montiert werden (ggf. muss ein vorhandener Ab-
standshalter an einer anderen Stelle montiert werden, damit das kurze Modul festgeschraubt werden kann).
Für Pin 9 des RS232-Ports kann über eine Steckbrücke zwischen „RI“ und „5 V/DC“ umgeschaltet werden.
Beachten Sie hierzu z.B. die Bedienungsanleitung des Geräts, das Sie an der RS232-Schnittstelle anschlie-
ßen wollen („RI“ = „Ring Indicator“; 5 V/DC = Pin 9 liefert eine Spannung von 5 V/DC für die Versorgung von
dazu vorgesehenen RS232-Geräten).
Im Zweifelsfall stellen Sie die Steckbrücke auf die RS232-Standard-Einstellung „RI“ ein.
Verlegen Sie das Flachbandkabel so, dass es keine Lüfter in der Funktion behindert. Abhängig davon, wo
das Modul eingebaut wird (Computer, Mini-PC oder Notebook), ist die 9polige RS232-Buchse entweder an
einer geeigneten Stelle festzuschrauben (ggf. muss ein passendes Slotblech getrennt erworben werden,
nicht im Lieferumfang) oder es muss einfach aus dem Gehäuse herausgeführt werden.
Beim Verschließen des Gehäuses des Computers ist darauf zu achten, dass das Flachbandkabel nicht
beschädigt wird.
Inbetriebnahme, Treiber-Installation
• Wenn das Modul in einen Notebook eingebaut wurde, so setzen Sie den zu Beginn evtl. entfernten Akku
wieder ein.
• Schalten Sie den Computer ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem geladen wurde. Windows ndet
daraufhin neue Hardware, brechen Sie die Suche nach einem Treiber ab.
• Legen Sie die Treiber-CD in das entsprechende Laufwerk Ihres Computers ein. Sollte Ihr Computer kein
passendes Laufwerk haben, können Sie die Treiber auf einem anderen Computer z.B. auf einen USB-
Stick umkopieren.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Erstellung dieser Bedienungsanleitung befand sich der benötigte Treiber im
Verzeichnis „USB Device\PL2303“ der CD. Beachten Sie den dort bendlichen Inhalt; starten
Sie das Installationsprogramm im Verzeichnis und folgen Sie allen Anweisungen.

Installation
Turn off the computer in which you intend to install the module and disconnect it from the mains voltage,
unplug mains plug.
Open the housing.
Connect the RS232 cable with module paying attention to the correct connector (do not use force).
The module can now be installed in a free M.2 port.
The module is based on USB. Due to the gap in the contact strip of the module, it will only t into
an M.2 port with the code “Key A+E”, “Key A” or “Key E”. They provide a PCIe as well as a USB
port.
If the M.2 port does not provide a USB connection, it cannot be installed.
Hold the module at a slight angle and insert it into the M.2 port. Pay attention to the orientation of the board
with respect to the M.2 port. Afterwards, fold it down and screw it tight. Depending on the M.2 port, an ap-
propriate spacer might have to be attached (if necessary, an existing spacer might have to be attached in a
different location so that the module can be screwed tight).
For pin 9 of the RS232 port, it is possible to toggle between “RI” and “5 V/DC” using a jumper. To do this,
observe e.g., the operating instructions of the device you want to connect to the RS232 port (“RI” = “ring
indicator”; 5 V/DC = pin 9 provides a voltage of 5 V/DC for the power supply of appropriate RS232 devices).
If in doubt, set the jumper to the RS232 default setting “RI”.
Lay the at cable in such a way that it does not obstruct fans in their operation. Depending on the installation
location of the module (computer, mini PC or laptop), the 9-pin RS232 socket must be screwed tight in an ap-
propriate location (if necessary, a suitable slot sheet must be bought separately, not included in the delivery)
or it must be removed from the housing.
When closing the housing, take care not to damage the at cable.
Getting started & driver installation
• If the module was installed in a laptop, insert the battery you might have removed before.
• Switch on your computer and wait until the operating system has booted completely. Windows then nds
the new hardware; cancel the hardware detection.
• Insert the enclosed driver CD into the corresponding drive on your computer. If your computer does not
have an appropriate drive, you can copy the driver e.g., to a pen drive using another computer.
At the time of preparation of these operating instructions, the required driver, was found in the
directory “USB Device\Pl2303” on the enclosed CD. Take a look at its contents; start the instal-
lation programme in the directory and follow the instructions.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable and do not belong in the household waste. Dispose of an
unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations. You thereby full
your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
