5.2 Installation and assembly
5.2.1 Models A43, A46, A50, A51
1. Before installing, check whether the material of the thermowell used (specified in the
delivery note) is chemically resistant/neutral against the medium being measured.
2. When using parallel threads, a suitable seal should be used when mounting. Tapered
threads should be sealed using suitable sealing material.
3. Insert the thermowell into the process adapter without forcing or damaging it and
tighten (open-ended spanner, SW 21). The thermowell must not be bent or altered in
order to mount it. In general, the tip of the thermowell should be placed in the middle
third of the pipe.
4.1 Design without clamping screw on the thermowell
Insert the thermometer into the thermowell, to the stop. For this, overcome the
resistance felt. The clamping is generated through a point-based widening of the
diameter at the stem, or through the star shape diameter under the case. With this, pay
attention that the force is applied as in-line as possible with the thermowell and that
the measuring instrument is not bent by it. For the use of special thermowells, as an
alternative, the clamping is possible via a clamp spring located on the stem.
4.2 Design with clamping screw on the thermowell
Insert the thermometer into the thermowell, to the stop. With this, pay attention that
the force is applied as in-line as possible with the thermowell and that the measuring
instrument is not bent by it. Using a suitable screwdriver, tighten the screw on the side
of the thermowell head hand-tight.
5.2.2 Model A46.11
1. Remove one piece of the pipe insulation. The area of the surface with isolation
removed should only be large enough as is required for the mounting of the instrument.
Unnecessarily exposed surfaces will falsify the measuring results through heat
dissipation errors into the environment.
2. The attachment plate attached to the rear of the thermometer should be attached by
bending it to match the curve of the pipe so that the temperature sensor's measuring
element lies on the pipe wall.
3. Clip the delivered mounting clip onto one side of the attachment plate. Lead the clip
around the rear of the pipe and hook onto the other side of the attachment plate.
