Bitte lesen Sie diese Gebrauchsanweisung sorgfältig
durch, bevor Sie Ihren neuen Kühlschrank in Betrieb
nehmen.
ACHTUNG: Sollte dieses Gerät ein größeres ersetzen,
welches verschrottet werden soll, so entfernen Sie vorher
die Tür, um zu verhindern, daß sich ein Kind beim
Spielen im Gerät einschließt.
EINBAUANWEISUNGEN
Das Kühlgerät ist mit einem Absorberaggregat
ausgerüstet, welches absolut geräuschlos arbeitet.
Es ist zum freien Aufstellen bestimmt, kann jedoch auch
unter Beachtung nachfolgender Einbauanweisungen
eingebaut werden.
Damit das Gerät einwandfrei funktioniert und maximale
Kühlleistung bringt, müssen folgende Hinweise unbedingt
beachtet werden:
1) ausreichende Frischluftzufuhr von unten
2) gute, stauungsfreie Wärmeableitung oberhalb des
Kühlaggregates
3) fester waagerechter Stand des Kühlschrankes
Beim Einbau des Gerätes darauf achten, daß dieses
später ohne Beschädigung des Möbels gegebenenfalls
wiederausgebaut werden kann.
Der Kühlschrank muß so weit in das Möbel
hineingeschoben werden, daß das gesamte Aggregat in
den Lüftungsschacht hineinragt. Die Belüftung darf nicht
durch einen Heizkörper, ein Fernsehgerät oder eine
andere Wärmequelle beeinflußt werden.
Zwei Kühlschränke sollten nicht übereinander eingebaut
werden, wenn nicht für jedes Gerät eine individuelle
Belüftung vorhanden ist.
Nachfolgend einige Beispiele für den Einbau des
Kühlschrankes, wobei alle angegebenen Maße
Mindestmaße sind.
Beim Einbau muß darauf geachtet werden, daß der
Netzstecker zugänglich bleibt.
Beim Einbau in ein offenes Regal, Bild 2, Seite 59,
genügt es , wenn der Lüftungsschacht 105 mm tief ist.
Damit dies gewährleistet ist, kann man an der
Möbelschrankrückwand 105 mm lange Distanzstifte
anbringen. Auch in diesem Falle muß das ganze Aggregat
in den Lüftungsschacht hineinragen. Bei Schränken mit
Füßen wird die Luftzirkulation noch begünstigt.
Beim Einbau in einen Wandschrank Bilder 3 - 5, Seite
59 muß der Luftzufuhrschacht der Breite des
Kühlschrankes entsprechen sowie über und hinter dem
Kühlschrank mindestens 105 mm betragen. Die
Öffnungen sind normalerweise mit Gittern von
mindestens 200 cm
2
zu versehen.
Türanschlag und Dekorplatte
Der von Ihnen gewählte Standort des Kühlschrankes
könnte möglicherweise einen Wechsel des
Türanschlages erforderlich machen. In diesem Falle
sehen Sie bitte Seite 15.
Die Dekorplatte Ihres Kühlschrankes läßt sich abnehmen
und durch eine andere, zu Ihrer Innenausstattung
passende ersetzen. Sehen Sie hierzu bitte Seite 15.
Anschluß und Betrieb
Das Gerät darf nur an eine vorschriftsmäßig installierte
Schutzkontaktsteckdose angeschlossen werden. Vor der
Inbetriebnahme kontrollieren Sie bitte, ob die auf dem
Typenschild (im Innenbehälter oben links) angegebene
Spannung mit der Netzspannung übereinstimmt.

INBETRIEBNAHME DES GERÄTES
Zur Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes stecken Sie den Stecker
in die Steckdose und drehen Sie den Thermostatknopf
(Im Innenbehälter) auf Position 3 oder 4. Die Kühlung
macht sich erst nach etwa einer Stunde deutlich
bemerkbar. Das Kühlgerät ist mit einem
Absorberkühlaggregat ausgerüstet, es arbeitet völlig
geräuschlos. Sie hören also keinerlei
Einschaftgeräusche.
Die Innentemperatur kann durch den Standort, die
Raumtemperatur oder durch zu häufiges öffnen der Tür
beeinflußt werden. Ein Nachstellen des
Thermostatknopfes kann somit erforderlich werden.
Regulierung der Kühlraumtemperatur
Die Kühlleistung ist am Thermostaten einstellbar.
Einstellung = Kühlung abgeschaltet, von 1 bis 7 nimmt
die Kühlung zu. Bei einer Einstellung im mittleren Bereich
(3 oder 4) und bei einer normalen Außentemperatur
erreichen Sie im Kühlschrank eine Temperatur von 0° bis
7° C.
BENUTZUNG DES KÜHLSCHRANKES
Der Kühlraum bietet ausreichend Platz für das Einlagern
von Lebensmitteln, Milch, Getränken usw. Die
Flaschenbügel in der Innentür (RA 140) dienen sowohl
der Aufnahme von Raschen als auch von Büchsen und
kleinen Paketen. Alle Modelle mit Ausnahme der RA 80
und RH 200 sind mit halbtiefen Einlegerosten
ausgestattet. Diese können ganz nach Belieben
eingestellt werden. Ordnet man sie nebeneinander an, so
überdecken sie die ganze Tiefe; beide können jedoch
auch separat gebraucht werden, um vorne Platz für
Flaschen oder anderes Kühlgut zu erhalten.
EISWÜRFELBEREITUNG UND
ENTNAHME
Füllen Sie die Eisschale zu 4/5 mit Trinkwasser,
verschließen Sie sie mit dem Deckel. Nun stellen Sie die
verschlossene Eisschale auf den Eisschalenuntersatz
Übergelaufenes Wasser sollten Sie vorher abwischen,
um ein Festfrieren der Eisschale zu verhindern.
Um die Eiswürfelbereitung zu beschleunigen, können Sie
den Thermostaten für kurze Zeit auch auf Position 7
stellen. Vergessen Sie jedoch nicht, ihn zurückzustellen,
wenn die Eiswürfelbereitung beendet ist
Zur leichteren Eiswürfelentnahme halten Sie die
Eisschale kurz unterfließendes Leitungswasser, dann
nehmen Sie den Deckel mit den Eiswürfeln von der
Eisschale ab. Die Eiswürfel lassen sich nun leicht aus
den Fächern des Deckels herausnehmen.
INSTANDHALTUNG DES
KÜHLSCHRANKES
Abtauen
Am Abstrahier bildet sich zwangsläufig eine Eisschicht,
welche nicht zu dick werden darf, da sie die Kühlleistung
des Gerätes beeinträchtigt.
Kontrollieren Sie diese Eisbildung regelmäßig. Wird die
Eisschicht dicker als 6 mm, so müssen Sie das Gerät
abtauen. Die Geräte sind entweder mit einer halb-oder
mit einervollautomatischen Abtauungsvorrichtung
versehen.
Geräte mit halbautomatischer Abtauung
Drücken Sie mit einem Holzstäbchen den Abtauknopf im
Thermostatknopf ein. Verstellen Sie auf keinen Fall den

Thermostatknopf, sondern belassen Sie ihn in seiner
ursprünglichen Stellung. Schließen Sie die Tür.
Nach Beendigung des Abtauvorganges springt der
Abtauknopf wieder heraus, und das Aggregat beginnt
wieder zu arbeiten. Die Abtauzeit hängt von der Dicke der
Eisschicht sowie von der Raumtemperatur ab.
Geräte mit vollautomatischer Abtauung
Das Gerät taut regelmäßig automatisch ab und schaltet
wieder ein. Der Abtauvorgang wird durch eine
Zeitschaltuhr im 24-Stunden-Zyklus vollzogen.
Beseitigung des Tauwassers
Während des Abtauvorganges läuft das Tauwasser durch
einen Schlauch in einen Behälter auf der Rückseite des
Gerätes, um dort zu verdunsten. Dieser
Verdunstungsbehälter braucht nicht entleert zu werden.
Reinigen und Pflegen
Reinigen Sie den Innenbehälter Ihres Kühlschrankes
regelmäßig, um ihn frisch und hygienisch zu halten.
Schalten Sie das Gerät aus und ziehen Sie den Stecker
aus der Steckdose. Reinigen Sie anschließend den
Behälter und das Zubehör sorgfältig mit lauwarmem
Wasser und einem milden Reinigungsmittel.
Auf keinen Fall sollten Sie scharte oder scheuernde
sowie stark riechende Reinigungsmittel bzw.
Wachspolitur zum Reinigen verwenden, da diese die
Oberflächen beschädigen oder unangenehme Gerüche
hinterlassen. Der Außenbehälter sollte gelegentlich
abgestaubt oder mit einem feuchten Lappen abgewischt
werden. Die Türdichtung soll nur mit Wasser
abgewaschen und von Zeit zu Zeit mit Talkumpuder
abgerieben werden.
Wenn möglich sollte auch das Aggregat ab und zu mit
einem Pinsel entstaubt werden. Achten Sie jedoch darauf,
daß hierbei der Stecker aus der Steckdose gezogen ist.
Bei längerer Abwesenheit...
Wollen Sie das Haus für einige Zeit verlassen und
Lebensmittel im Kühlschrank liegen lassen, so schalten
Sie das Gerät nicht ab.
Bei einer kurzen Zeitspanne (bis zu 2 Tagen) brauchen
Sie, keine Lebensmittel aus dem Schrank
herauszunehmen.
Bei längerem Wegbleiben (bis zu 1 Woche) sollten Sie
alle Lebensmittel außer Butter, Eiern und Speck aus dem
Kühlschrank entfernen.
Wollen Sie das Gerät ganz außer Betrieb setzen, so
ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose, tauen Sie das
Gerät ab, und reinigen Sie es sorgfältig. Lassen Sie die
Tür offen, um die Entstehung von schlechten Gerüchen
zu vermeiden.
WECHSEL DES TÜRANSCHLAGES
Lösen Sie die Kunststoffverschlüsse aus den
vorgesehenen Scharnierlöchern. Legen Sie den (leeren)
Kühlschrank auf den Rücken und wechseln Sie die
Scharniere diagonal von rechts oben nach links unten
und von rechts unten nach links oben.
Befestigen Sie die Scharnierlochverschlüsse in den alten
Scharnierlöchern und stellen Sie den Schrank wieder
aufrecht, um zu kontrollieren, ob die Tür gut schließt und
rundherum abdichtet.
WECHSEL DER TÜRDEKORPLATTE
Lösen Sie die Scharniere und ziehen Sie die Tür mit den
Scharnieren vom Gehäuse ab. Entfernen Sie
anschließend das Unterteil des Türrahmens. Die
vorhandene Dekorplatte kann nun bequem nach unten
herausgeschoben und durch eine andere, mit gleichen
Abmessungen, ersetzt werden.

STÖRUNGEN
Sollte irgendeine Störung auftreten, so rufen Sie nicht
gleich einen Monteur, sondern führen sie zuerst folgende
einfache Tests durch:
Ist die Stromversorgung in Ordnung? Prüfen Sie Ihre
Sicherungen.
Steckt der Stecker richtig in der Steckdose und führt
diese Strom? Prüfen Sie die Steckdose, indem sie ein
anderes Gerät, z.B. eine Tischlampe, anschließen.
Steht der Thermostat in der richtigen Position?
(Normalerweise 3 oder 4.)
Wurde der Abtauknopf irrtümlicherweise eingedrückt?
Wenn ja, so drehen Sie den Thermostatknopf in Stellung
und der Abtauknopf springt wieder heraus. Dann
stellen Sie den Thermostatknopf wieder in seine
ursprüngliche Stellung zurück, und das Aggregat müßte
wieder zu kühlen beginnen.
Wurde die Tür nicht richtig geschlossen, so daß die
Innentemperatur zu schnell anstieg?
Steht der Kühlschrank waagerecht?
Hat das Gerät die erforderliche Belüftung?
Sollten Sie trotz dieser Kontrollen kein einwandfreies
Funktionieren des Kühlschrankes erreichen, wenden Sie
sich bitte an die nächstliegende Kundendienststelle. Ein
Kundendienstverzeichnis ist jedem Gerät beigefügt.
Geben Sie die Art des Defektes, den Gerätetyp und die
Produktnummer an (diese Angaben finden Sie auf dem
Typenschild im Innenbehälter oben links).
Dieser Kühlschrank ist mit einem Überhitzungsschutz
ausgerüstet. Ein zugelassener Servicetechniker kann
feststellen, ob der Überhitzungsschutz ausgelöst hat.
WICHTIGE HINWEISE
** Was Sie unbedingt tun sollten:
Überzeugen Sie sich, daß das Gerät in beiden
Richtungen' waagerecht steht.
Verschließen oder wickeln Sie Getränke und
Lebensmittel ein, besonders solche mit starkem Geruch.
Melonen und Ananas sollten eingewickelt und nicht zu
lange aufbewahrt werden.
Schließen Sie die Kühlschranktür nach Gebrauch und
achten Sie darauf, daß sie richtig verschlossen ist.
Erinnern Sie alle anderen Benutzer daran.
Lassen Sie die Kühlschranktür offen, wenn das Gerät
außer Betrieb ist.
Tauen Sie das Gerät regelmäßig ab.
** Was Sie auf keinen Fall tun sollten:
Die Luftströmung über dem Aggregat darf auf keinen Fall
behindert werden.
Stellen Sie keine warmen Speisen in den Kühlschrank,
sondern lassen Sie diese zuerst abkühlen.
Legen Sie keine Bananen in den Kühlschrank.
Gebrauchen Sie auf keinen Fall scharfe Gegenstände,
um die Eisschicht am Abstrahler oder die Eisschalen zu
entfernen, da dies unweigerlich Schäden hervorruft.
Das Gerät ist funkentstört nach den Richtlinien 76/889
mit Ergänzungsrichtlinie 82/499/ EWG.
Das Gerät enthält keine FCKW/FKW.
Natriumchromat wird als Korrosionsschutz verwendet
(weniger als 2 Gew.% des Kühlmediums)
Das Gerät entspricht den folgenden EG-Richtlinien:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
It's important that you read all through this handbook
before installing and using your new refrigerator.
SAFETY NOTE: If this refrigerator is replacing a larger
one which is going to be scrapped, remove the door
before disposal to prevent children from becoming
trapped inside.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The refrigerator is equipped with an electrically heated
absorption cooling until which is virtually silent in
operation. The fridge is designed for free-standing
installation, but can be built-in if the following conditions
are complied with to ensure satisfactory operation and
maximum cooling efficiency.
1) The fridge must be level in both directions.
2) There must be an air duct at the back of the housing
to provide sufficient air-flow over the cooling unit to
carry away heat generated during the cooling
process. The entire cooling unit should project into the
duct and the air passing through the duct must not be
preheated by radiators, T.V. sets or any other sources
of heat. Two refrigerators should not be built-in, one
on top of the other, unless separate air ducts are
provided for each.
3) When built-in, for future servicing requirements, it
must be possible for the refrigerator to be easily
removed, without damaging the fitment in which it is
housed.
The illustrations on page 59 show four different ways of
building-in the refrigerator.
During installation, please ensure the mains plug is
accessible at all times.
With the refrigerator standing on a shelf - Figure 2
The opening at the back for the passage of air must be at
least 105 mm deep. This can be achieved by using
105 mm spacers at the rear of the shelf, leaving an 105
mm opening immediately under the cooling unit.
Alternatively, the shelf can be supported on battens at the
sides, screwed to adjacent fitments, or on legs, leaving a
completely unobstructed opening underneath the cooling
unit for the full width of the refrigerator, allowing maximum
air-flow.
If a ventilation grill is fitted at the top, it must have a free
space of at least 200 cm
2
for the ventilating air to escape.
With the refrigerator built into a housing - Figs 3,4 and 5
The ventilation duct at the back of the recess must be at
least 105 mm deep and extend the full width of the
refrigerator - 425 mm minimum.
If the inlet and/or outlet openings at the bottom and top of
the duct are fitted with decorative grilles, the free space
through each grille must not be less than 200 cm
2
so that
the air-flow is not restricted.
Door hang and outer door panel
The chosen position for your fridge may make it
preferable to change over the door hinges to reverse the
door hang. To do this, refer to page 20.
If you wish the outer door panel can be removed and
replaced by another to match existing decor in your room.
Instructions for doing this are also given on page 20.
Connecting to the mains
The refrigerator must only be connected to the electricity
supply using an earthed socket outlet, installed in
accordance with local regulations. Before connecting the
refrigerator, check from the data label inside the cabinet
that the voltage agrees with your mains supply.

Plug connection (for United Kingdom only)
If a 3 - pin 13 amp fused plug is used, it should be fitted
with a 3 amp fuse; with other plug types, the circuit should
contain a 5 amp fuse.
This appliance conforms with the requirements of EEC
directive No. 82/449 relating to radio interference.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead of this appliance are coloured
in accordance with the following code:
GREEN-and-YELLOW: EARTH
BLUE : Neutral
BROWN : LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead may not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the
terminals in your plug, proceed as follows.
Connect the GREEN-and-YELLOW coloured wire to the
plug terminal marked letter E or earth symbol or
coloured green or green-and-and-yellow.
Connect the BROWN coloured wire to the plug terminal
marked letter L or coloured red.
Connect the BLUE coloured wire to the plug terminal
marked letter N or coloured black.
SETTING THE CONTROL
To start the fridge, plug into the socket outlet, switch on,
and turn the thermostat dial (inside the cabinet) to setting
number 3 or 4. There will be signs of cooling in about
an hour. Note that the fridge has an absorption type of
cooling unit, which is virtually silent in operation. You will
not therefore hear anything start up when the fridge is
switched on.
The refrigerator temperature will be affected by location,
room temperature, and frequency of door opening and
adjustment of the thermostat dial may be needed to allow
for this.
Temperature control
The temperature in the fridge is from 0° to 7° C, when
you set the thermostat dial to 3 or 4, in normal ambient
temperatures.
If colder temperatures are needed in the fridge turn the
thermostat dial clockwise to a higher number: if less
cooling is required, turn the dial anti-clockwise to a lower
number.
USING THE FRIDGE
The fridge compartment provides suitable storage for
most kinds of food, milk, drinks, etc. and door shelves are
provided in the RA 140 for bottles, jars, and small
packets.
All models except RA 80 and RH 200 are equipped with
half-depth cabinet shelves which can be rearranged as
you wish. Two can be used together to form a full-depth
shelf or they can be used separately, leaving space along
the front for bottles or other tall items.
Ideally, all foods should be in covered containers or
plastic bags, or wrapped in foil or plastic film. Liquids
should also be covered. This is to prevent flavours
passing from one item to another and also to reduce frost
build-up on the cooling surtaces due to moisture coming
from stored items.

ICE MAKING
Fill the ice tray with fresh drinking water to just below the
top, cover the ice tray with the lid and place it on the ice
making shelf.
Ice will be made more quickly if the thermostat dial is
temporarily turned to MAX but remember to return the
dial to its usual setting when ice has formed; otherwise
the fridge may become too cold. To release the ice cubes,
hold the ice tray under a cold running tap. Then remove
the lid with the ice cubes and take them out.
LOOKING AFTER YOUR FRIDGE
Defrosting
Frost will gradually form on cooling surfaces and it must
not be allowed to become too thick since it acts as an
insulator and interferes with the cooling process.
Semi-automatic defrosting
The models have a semi-automatic defrosting device and
these can be identified by the push-button in the centre of
the thermostat dial.
With these models you should, regularly each week,
examine the frost build-up and, if it is more than 6 mm
thick, the fridge should be defrosted. All models with this
device are defrosted as follows:
Push in the button in the centre of the thermostat dial but
do not turn the dial to another position - leave it at its
usual setting. Close the door.
The defrost button will stay in and the cooling unit will
remain switched off until the frost has melted. The defrost
button will then automatically spring out to its normal
position and the refrigerator will start working again. The
time taken to defrost will depend on the amount of frost to
be removed and the room temperature.
Automatic defrosting
Some models are fitted with a defrost time switch which
automatically defrosts the fridge once a day and no
appreciable frost build-up should occur. The time switch
is pre-set at the factory - therefore, you do not need to set
or adjust it.
Defrost water disposal
While defrosting is taking place, defrost water will run
through a tube into an evaporating vessel in the cooling
unit compartment at the back of the cabinet. The water
will then evaporate into the circulating air. You do not
have to empty the vessel.
Cleaning
Clean the interior of your fridge regularly to keep it fresh
and hygienic.
Switch off and pull the plug from the wall socket then
thoroughly clean the interior and fittings with a cloth
wrung out in a solution of one teaspoonful of bicarbonate
of soda to each pint of warm water.
Never use detergents, abrasive powders, highly
perfumed cleaning materials or wax polishes to clean the
interior as these will damage the surfaces and leave a
strong smell.
The outside should occasionally be dusted or wiped over
with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent. But
not the door seal which should be cleaned only with soap
and water and thoroughly dried.
If accessible, the cooling unit at the rear should be
cleaned of dust occasionally using a brush, but make
sure the fridge is unplugged when you do this.

Occasionally, strong-smelling food may leave the fridge
with a slight odour. Placing a small dish of bicarbonate of
soda powder inside should slowly absorb these smells.
The dish should be refilled periodically.
Going on holiday
Don't switch off at the mains if you intend leaving food in
the refrigerator. For two days or less, there is no need to
remove any food. For up to a week, remove all food from
the refrigerator compartment except eggs, butter and
bacon.
If you intend leaving the fridge empty, switch off at the
wall socket, defrost, clean, and dry, then leave the door
open to prevent the accumulation of odours inside.
CHANGING OVER THE DOOR HINGES
Carefully prise out the plastic plugs seating the
alternative screw-holes in the top of cabinet for the upper
hinge. Lay the (empty) refrigerator on its back and
transfer the upper and lower hinges to the opposite side.
Push the plastic plugs into the vacated screw-holes in the
top of the cabinet. Stand the refrigerator on its feet and
check that the door closes properly and seals all round.
CHANGING THE OUTER DOOR PANEL
Unscrew the hinges from cabinet and remove the door
with hinges.
Remove the bottom section of the door surround, held by
2 screws.
The existing door panel can then be slid out and a new
one, of similar dimensions, fitted in its place. Reassemble
in the reverse sequence.
SOMETHING NOT WORKING
Before you call for your Service Engineer, carry out these
simple checks:
Is there a power failure? Check your house lights.
Is the plug firmly connected to the wall socket and is the
socket switched on? Check the power supply by plugging
in another appliance or a table lamp.
Is the fuse in the plug intact? If you have fitted your own
plug are the wires correctly connected?
Is the thermostat dial at the correct setting? (Normally
No. 3 or 4).
Has the defrost button been inadvertently pushed in? If it
has, turn the thermostat dial to position 0" and the button
should spring out. Then reset the dial to its usual position
and the fridge should start cooling again.
Has the door been left open causing the temperature to
rise?
Is the fridge still level?
Has the air-flow over the back become obstructed?
If after checking all the above points your fridge still won't
work properly, call your nearest Service shop or office
without delay.
For future reference, we suggest you record these details
here and keep the receipt with the handbook as proof of
the date of purchase.
This refrigerator is equipped with overheating protection.
An authorised service technician can check whether this
has been triggered or not.
