A Product Description
REFO 60 is a one-angle glossmeter to measure all types of normal surfaces.
REFO 60D is a one-angle glossmeter to measure all types of normal and metal surfaces.
The measuring is according to DIN 67530 with the sample being illuminated at an angle of
60°. The directed reflection is measured at the complementary angle.

A2 Instrument Set-Up
Unpack the instrument carefully and check the delivery for missing parts (delivery note) or
transport damages. Please retain the packing material for safe transport or shipment of
the instrument. As REFO 60 is a sophisticated optical measuring system, avoid the follow-
ing under all circumstances:
Do not allow water of inflammable and metallic objects to enter the instrument.
Do not use the instrument in excessively moist or dusty surroundings and avoid
dropping or shaking the instrument.
Do not open the instrument. There are not parts in the housing for the user to check.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact our service department.
B Operation
REFO 60 is powered by two batteries, type AA. The battery compartment is at the back of
the instrument. Insert new batteries into the compartment before starting the instrument up
Old batteries must be given to a battery collection centre for correct disposal.
REFO 60 is operated with the control button on the instrument’s side. It is used to:

calibrate
measure
enter standard number and calibration values

It is recommended to calibrate at least once a day.
Turn REFO on with the blue control button ; the display reads 60°
Put REFO on the standard, remove protective cloth first
Start the calibration with the control button , the display reads *Cal* , followed
by the reflectometer value of the calibration standard XXX.X

B2 Calibration Standards
For gloss measurement according to DIN 67530 the standard A (LZM 150) is used. This is
a polished black glass tile. For high-gloss measurements (only REFO 60-D), however,
standard metal mirror (LZM 154) is necessary. The calibration values at 60° are found on
the back of the certified standard, together with the standard number which ensures trace-
ability. Do not touch or scratch the standard surfaces. Cover them as soon as they are out
of use and keep them in a safe, preferably dark place.
B2.1 Entering standard number and calibration values
You need only enter a new calibration value after changing the standard. REFO 60-D rec-
ognizes the standard on which it operates. The 4-digit standard number and the reflec-
tometer value for 60° are indicated on the bottom of the standard.
Turn on REFO 60 with the control button , display 60°
Place the instrument on the standard
Hold the control button down for approx. 10 seconds; the display reads
CAL first, then the calibration value XXX.X and at last the standard number
XXXX . To increase the displayed number, press the control button . Then
wait for the next digit to blink.
When the setting is finished, the entire standard number blinks until you acknowledge
the value with the control button.
Now the display shows the blinking calibration value which is to be entered just like
the standard number before.
B2.2 Maintenance of the Calibration Standard
Standards LZM 150 and LZM 154 are provided with a quality control certificates according
to DIN 55350 part 18, 4. The calibration values of the standards remain valid for two years.
Poor accuracy or repeatability of readings is often due to improper handling of the working
standards. Gloss being a surface property, utmost cleanliness is of vital importance. Even
slight irregularities caused by nicotine, dust, fingerprints or scratches can lead to mis-
measurements. The standards can be cleaned carefully with glass cleaning agent and a
soft tissue.
ATTENTION: Do not touch the standard surface with your fingers when cleaning it.
B3 Gloss Measurement
Measuring procedure:
Calibrate REFO 60 (see chapter B1)
Put REFO 60 on the level sample surface
Press the control button .
The display shows the number of measurement first XXX , followed by the current
reflectometer value XXX.X
REFO 60 turns off automatically approx. 2 minutes after the last measurement.

C Technical Information
C1 Service
Your REFO 60 will benefit from occasional care and attention. The outer casing can be
cleaned using a dry cloth or mild household cleaner. Solvents such as benzene, acetone
or similar substances must NOT be used. For maintenance of the calibration standard,
refer to chapter B.3.2. Cleaning of the optical parts should be carried out by our customer
service.

A Produktbeschreibung
Das REFO 60 ist ein Einwinkel-Glanzmeßgerät zur Messung aller normal glänzenden
Oberflächen. Das REFO 60-D ist ein Einwinkel-Glanzmeßgerät für die Messung von nor-
mal glänzenden und metallischen Oberflächen.
Gemessen wird nach DIN 67530. Die Probe wird unter einem Winkel von 60 beleuchtet.
Die gerichtete Reflexion wird im Komplementärwinkel, ebenfalls 60 gemessen.

A2 Geräteaufstellung
Packen Sie das Gerät vorsichtig aus und überprüfen Sie die Lieferung auf Vollständigkeit (
Lieferschein ) und Transportschäden. Bitte bewahren Sie das Verpackungsmaterial auf,
um das Gerät bei späterem Transport oder Versand wieder geschützt verpacken zu kön-
nen.
Da es sich bei Ihrem REFO 60 um ein hochwertiges optisches Meßsystem handelt, beach-
ten Sie bitte folgende Aufstellungsempfehlungen:
Vermeiden Sie, daß Wasser, entzündliche oder metallische Objekte in das Gerät ge-
langen.
Vermeiden Sie den Gebrauch bei übermäßiger Feuchtigkeit, Staub oder Erschütte-
rung.
Das Gerät bitte nicht öffnen. Es befinden sich keine vom Kunden zu kontrollierenden
Teile im Gehäuse.
Bei Fragen oder Problemen wenden Sie sich bitte an unseren Kundendienst.
B Bedienung
REFO 60 wird über zwei Batterien Typ AA mit Strom versorgt. Die Batterien gehören in
das Batteriefach auf der Geräterückseite und müssen vor Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes in
den Batterieschacht eingesetzt werden. Danach ist das Gerät direkt einsatzbereit. Ver-
brauchte Batterien können in allen Batterieannahmestellen zur Entsorgung abgegeben
werden.
Die Bedienung des Gerätes erfolgt ausschließlich über die Multifunktionstaste auf einer
der Längsseiten des Gerätes. Sie dient:

zur Eingabe der Standardnummer und der Kalibrierwerte

B1 Kalibrierung
Sie sollten das REFO 60 mindestens einmal pro Tag kalibrieren.
Gerät mit der Multifunktionstaste einschalten; im Display erscheint 60°
Gerät auf den Standard setzen, Schutzlappen zuvor entfernen.
Kalibrierung durch betätigen der Multifunktionstaste auslösen, im Display
erscheint CAL danach der Reflektometerwert des Kalibrierstandard XXX.X
B2 Kalibrierstandard
Für die Glanzmessung gemäß DIN 67530 dient der Standard A ( LZM 150 ). Für die
Glanzmessung an hochglänzenden Metalloberflächen (nur mit REFO 60-D) dient der
Standard Metallspiegel ( LZM 154 ). Die Kalibrierwerte für 60 befinden sich jeweils auf der
Rückseite des zertifizierten Standards. Hier finden Sie ebenfalls die Standardnummer, die
eine Rückverfolgung ermöglicht.
Die Oberflächen der Standards sollten nicht berührt werden und vor Verkratzen geschützt
werden. Decken Sie den Standard bei Nichtgebrauch ab und legen ihn an eine sichere,
möglichst lichtgeschützte Stelle.
B2.1 Eingeben der Standardnummer und des Kalibrierwertes
Nur bei einem Standardwechsel ist die Eingabe eines neuen Kalibrierwertes erforderlich.
REFO 60-D merkt selbständig auf welchem Standard es steht. Die 4-stellige Standard-
nummer und der Reflektometerwert für 60° befinden sich auf der Unterseite des Stan-
dards.
Das Gerät mit der Multifunktionstaste einschalten, Anzeige: 60°
Gerät auf den Standard setzen.
Multifunktionstaste ca. 10 sek gedrückt halten; im Display erscheint erst
CAL danach der Kalibrierwert XXX.X und zuletzt die blinkende Standardnum-
mer XXXX .
Durch Drücken der Multifunktionstaste wird der Zahlenwert erhöht. Anschlie-
ßend warten Sie bis die nächste Ziffer blinkt.
Wenn die Einstellung abgeschlossen ist, blinkt die komplette Standardnummer bis
Sie den Wert durch betätigen der Multifunktionstaste bestätigen.
Nun erscheint im Display der blinkende Kalibrierwert zu dessen Einstellung Sie ge-
nau wie zuvor beschrieben verfahren.
B2.2 Pflege des Standards
Die Standards LZM 150 und LZM154 besitzen jeweils ein Qualitätsprüfzertifikat gemäß
DIN 55350 Teil 18,4. Mangelnde Genauigkeit oder Reproduzierbarkeit der Meßwerte ist
sehr oft auf unsachgemäße Behandlung des Arbeitsstandards zurückzuführen. Da der
Glanz ein Oberflächeneffekt ist, ist höchste Sauberkeit von größter Wichtigkeit. Schon
leichte Unsauberkeiten, wie Spuren von Staub, Nikotin, Fingerabdrücke oder Kratzer füh-
ren zu Meßwertverfälschungen. Sie können den Standard vorsichtig mit einem weichen
Tuch säubern. Die Kalibrierwerte des Standards haben eine Gültigkeit von zwei Jahren.

ACHTUNG: Während und nach der Reinigung darf die Oberfläche nicht mit den Fin-
gern berührt werden.
B3 Glanzmessung
Durchführung der Messung:
Gerät kalibrieren ( siehe Kapitel B1 )
Das REFO 60 auf die ebene Probenoberfläche stellen
Multifunktionstaste betätigen; im Display erscheint zunächst die Nummer der
Messung XXX gefolgt vom aktuellen Messwert XXX.X
Das REFO 60 schaltet sich automatisch nach 2-minütiger Pause ab.
C Technische Hinweise
C1 Wartung
Auch ein ausgereiftes Produkt wie das REFO 60 bedarf einer pfleglichen Behandlung. Das
Gehäuse kann mit einem trockenen Lappen oder einem milden Haushaltsreiniger gesäu-
bert werden. Auf keinen Fall dürfen Lösungsmittel wie Benzin, Aceton oder ähnliches ver-
wendet werden. Die Reinigung der optischen Teile sollte durch unseren Kundendienst er-
folgen. Weitere Wartungen brauchen Sie nicht vorzunehmen.

Elimination conformément à la directive européenne 2002/96/CE
En Europe, depuis le 12 août 2005, les appareils électriques comportant ce symbole ne doivent pas être jetés avec les
autres déchets. Conformément à la réglementation nationale et européenne (Directive 2002/96/CE), les appareils
électriques doivent désormais être, à la fin de leur service, renvoyés par les utilisateurs au fabricant, qui se chargera de
les éliminer à ses frais.

A Description du produit
Le REFO 60 est un réflectomètre mono-angle pour toutes mesures de brillance de sur-
faces normales. Le REFO 60D est un réflectomètre mono-angle pour toutes mesures de
brillance de surfaces normales et métalliques.
Les mesures sont réalisées suivant la norme DIN 67530. L´échantillon est éclairé sous un
angle de 60°. La réflexion est orientée et mesurée sous l´angle complémentaire de 60°. La
technique du faisceau de mesure assure une haute exactitude de mesure.
L´exploitation des valeurs mesurées est faite par un microprocesseur. Toutes les valeurs
sont mémorisées et affichées numériquement.

A2 Installation de l´appareil
Sortir l´appareil avec précaution de son emballage et contrôler que la livraison est com-
plète (bordereau de livraison) et non-endommagée. Garder, s. v. p., l´emballage d´origine
afin de l´utiliser en cas d´expédition ou de transport ultérieur.
Le REFO 60 est un appareil optique de haute qualité. Il est recommandé, lors de son ins-
tallation, de prendre certaines précautions:
Eviter que de l´eau, des matières inflammables ou des objets métalliques entrent
dans l´appareil.
Eviter son utilisation en milieu très humide et poussièreux, éviter les chocs.
L´appareil ne doit pas être ouvert. Il n´y a aucune pièce à contrôler par l´utilisateur à
l´intérieur.

B Fonctionnement
Le fonctionnement de l´appareil se fait par l´intermédiaire de l´unique touche située sur le
côté de l´appareil.
Celle-ci sert à:
la mise en route
la calibration
la réalisation des mesures
l´introduction du numéro du standard et des valeurs de calibration
Deux piles de type AA font parties de la livraison. Les introduire dans leur compartiment.
L´appareil est alors prêt à fonctionner. Les piles sont logées dans leur compartiment à
l´arrière de l´appareil.

B1 Calibration
Il est recommandé de calibrer le REFO 60 au moins une fois par jour.
Mettre l´appareil en route par la touche multifonction . Affichage 60°
Poser l´appareil sur le standard (enlever auparavant la protection)
Déclencher la calibration par pression sur la touche multifonction
Affichage: CAL , puis la valeur de réflexion du standard de calibration XXX.X
apparait.
B2 Standards de calibration
Le standard A (LZM 150), une surface de verre noir polie, à haute brillance sert de stan-
dard de référence suivant la norme DIN 67530. Le standard Métal (LZM 154), une surface
métallique à haute brillance sert de standard de référence Métal (seulement pour le REFO
60-D). Le numéro et les valeurs de calibration à 60° se trouvent au dos des standards cer-
tifiés afin de faciliter leur traçabilité.
Les surfaces des standards ne doivent être ni touchées ni rayées. Recouvrez les stan-
dards quand ils ne sont pas utilisés et déposez-les en un endroit sûr et si possible à l´abri
de la lumière.
B2.1 Introduction du numéro du standard et des valeurs de calibration
L´introduction d´une nouvelle valeur de calibration est nécessaire à chaque changement
de standard. Le REFO 60-D remarque lui-même sur quel standard il est posé. Le numéro
à 4 chiffres et la valeur pour 60° se trouvent au dos du standard.
Mettre le REFO en marche par la touche multifonction Affichage: 60°
Poser l´appareil sur le standard
Appuyer sur la touche multifonction pendant env. 10 sec.
Affichage: CAL , puis apparait la valeur de réflexion du standard de calibration
XXX.X et enfin le numéro du standard XXXX , lequel clignote.
Appuyer plusieurs fois sur la touche multifonction jusqu´à l´apparition du
chiffre souhaité. Attendre que le chiffre suivant clignote.
Quand la mise au point est terminée, le numéro complet du standard clignote. Ce
numéro est confirmé par pression sur la touche multifonction .
Apparition de la valeur de calibration, laquelle clignote.
Répéter ce processus pour la mise au point de cette valeur.
B2.2 Entretien des standards
L´exactitude et la reproductibilité insuffisantes des valeurs mesurées sont souvent cau-
sées par des standards de travail ayant subit de mauvais traitements. Comme la brillance
est un effet de surface, la plus grande propreté est une nécessité absolue. La moindre

salissure, même invisible à l´oeil nu (nicotine, poussières, empreintes digitales, rayures),
conduit à des résultats de mesures erronés. Les standards peuvent être nettoyés avec un
détergent pour vitres du commerce et un chiffon doux. Les valeurs de calibration des
standards sont valables pendant 2 années.
ATTENTION: La surface du standard ne doit pas être touchée avec les doigts pendant et
après le nettoyage.
Les standards LZM 150 et LZM 154 possèdent chacun un certificat de contrôle de la quali-
té suivant la DIN 55350 partie 18,4.
B3 Mesure de brillance
Exécution de la mesure:
calibrer l´appareil (voir chap. B1)
Positionner le REFO 60 sur la surface plate de l´échantillon à mesurer
Appuyer sur la touche multifonction
Le numéro de la mesure XXX est d´abord affiché sur le display, puis apparait la
valeur de réflexion XXX.X
Le REFO 60 s´éteint automatiquement 2 minutes après la dernière mesure.

C1 Maintenance
Même un produit aussi élaboré que le REFO 60 nécessite une utiliasation soigneuse et
quelques interventions de maintenance régulières.
Le boitier peut être nettoyé avec un chiffon sec ou un produit nettoyant doux du com-
merce. Ne jamais utiliser de dissolvant tel que l’essence, l’acétone ou un autre produit
semblable.
Pour le nettoyage et l’entretien des standards de calibration voir le chap. B2.2.
Le nettoyage des parties optiques doit être effectué par notre service clients. Vous n’avez
pas besoin d’apporter de maintenance supplémentaire à l’appareil.

A Introduzione
Il REFO 60/60-D è un riflettometro portatile per la misura della brillantezza ad una sola
angolazione per particolari normali e con alto indice di brillantezza.
La misura è in accordo alle normative internazionali DIN 67530 con il campione illuminato
con angolatura di 60°. La brillantezza è misurata con angolo complementare di 60°. Que-
sto strumento è dotato della qualità superiore della Hach con raggio di riferimento.
I dati letti sono passati attraverso un microprocessore. Tutti i dati sono salvati e visualizzati
in formato digitale.

A2 Configurazione dello strumento
Disimballare accuratamente lo strumento, e controllare che siano state consegnate tutte le
parti e per eventuali danni da trasporto. Per favore, conservate il materiale di imballo per
un eventuale trasporto sicuro o spedizione dello strumento.
Poiché il REFO è uno strumento di misura di tipo ottico, evitare il verificarsi delle seguenti
circostanze.
· Non usare lo strumento alla luce diretta del sole
· Non permettere all’acqua o a materiale infiammabile o ad oggetti metallici di pene-
trare all’interno dello strumento
· Non usare lo strumento in ambienti eccessivamente umidi, polverosi o con vibra-
zioni.
· Non aprire lo strumento. Non ci sono parti nello strumento da poter essere control-
late dall’utente.

B Operatività
Il REFO lavora con due batterie di tipo AA che devono essere inserite nel vano porta bat-
terie prima di inizializzare lo strumento. Indi è pronto per operare. Il REFO 60/60-D è ope-
rativo con un unico tasto blu posto sul fianco. Questo tasto è usato per:
· Accensione
· Calibrazione
· Misura
· Inserimento numero dello standard e valori di calibrazione.
B1 Calibrazione
E’ raccomandato calibrare il sitema almeno una volta al giorno.
· Accendere il REFO premendo il tasto tondo blu ; il display visualizza 60°.
· Porre il REFO sullo standard, ricordarsi di rimuovere il tessuto protettivo.

· Calibrare il REFO, premendo il tasto tondo blu , il display visualizza *CAL*,
seguito dal valore dello standard di calibrazione.
B2 Standard di calibrazione
Per misure di brillantezza in accordo alla normativa DIN 67530 è richiesto uno standard A
(LZM 150). Questa è una superficie di vetro nero lucida. Per misure di brillantezza ad ele-
vati gradi è disponibile come opzione lo standard M (LZM 154). I valori di calibrazione si
trovano sul fondo dello standard o sul relativo certificato, con il numero che assicura la
tracciabilità. Non toccare o graffiare la superficie dello standard. Coprirlo il più presto pos-
sibile e tenerlo in un luogo sicuro possibilmente al riparo dalla luce.
B2.1 Inserire il numero dello standard e i valori di calibrazione
E’ necessario inserire un nuovo numero solo dopo avere cambiato lo standard. Il REFO
60-D riconosce autonomamente lo standard con il quale sta operando. Il numero a quattro
cifre del valore di calibrazione è indicato sul retro dello standard e sul certificato annesso.
· Accendere il REFO con il tasto blu , il display visualizza 60°.
· Posizionare lo strumento sullo standard
· Tenere premuto il tasto blu per approssimativamente 10 secondi; il display
visualizza prima CAL, indi il primo valore di calibrazione da cambiare che lampeg-
gia.
· Per incrementare il numero premere il tasto blu , aspettare che lampeggi la
seconda cifra.
· Finito l’inserimento delle cifre, tutte lampeggiano fino a che non sono confermate
con il tasto blu .
· Ora il display visualizza il valore di calibrazione che deve essere immesso.
B2.2 Mantenimento dello standard di calibrazione
I valori di calibrazione restano validi per due anni. Dopo la data di scadenza è possibile
sostituire lo standard. Mancanza di accuratezza e ripetibilità delle misure spesso sono do-
vute ad un utilizzo improprio dello standard di calibrazione. Essendo la brillantezza dovuta
ad un trattamento superficiale, la pulizia è di importanza vitale. Anche piccolissime mac-
chie impercettibili all’occhio umano possano causare errori di lettura come nicotina, polve-
re, impronte digitali, graffi, etc. E’ possibile pulire gli standard con molta attenzione senza
danneggiarli.
Un modo per la pulizia è con detergente per i vetri e con un tessuto morbido, soffice e puli-
to per togliere ogni residuo di detergente.
ATTENZIONE: Non toccare la superficie dello standard durante la pulizia.
B3 Misura della brillantezza
Procedura di misura.
· Calibrare il REFO (vedi capitolo C.1)
· Posizionare il REFO sul campione

· Premere il tasto blu ; il display visualizza prima il numero della misura ed indi
la lettura corrente di brillantezza
Il REFO 60 si spegna automaticamente dopo circa 2 minuti dall’ultima misura effettuata.
C Informazioni tecniche
C1 Servizio
Anche uno strumento come il REFO 60 beneficerà di una cura ed attenzione saltuaria. La
superficie esterna del REFO può essere pulita con un tessuto morbido e con un leggero
detergente per la casa. Solventi come benzine, acetone, o sostanze simili NON devono
essere usati. Per la manutenzione riferirsi al capitolo B.2.2.
La pulizia delle parti ottiche dovrebbe essere svolta dal servizio clienti della Hach. Il REFO
non necessita di altri servizi.
