Handling and use
This section provides you with important information on handling and using the device.
Switching on and off
After connecting the device to the power supply, press the POWER button to
switch on the device. The operation LED above the button lights up. Press the
button again to switch off the device. The LED indicator goes out. To preserve the
environment and for reasons of safety, you should disconnect the mains adapter
when the device is not in use.
If the device does not register any microphone signal for two hours, it will automati-
cally switch into standby mode. Any microphone signal after this will not reacti-
vate the device. To switch the device back on, press the POWER button
twice.
In standby mode, there will be no output of the connected audio signal from the
accompanying music source.
When the device is switched off, the connected audio signal from the accom-
panying music source will continue to be transmitted to the output of the con-
nected device.
Initial operation
♦ Set the volume control for the accompanying music MUSIC VOL to the
middle setting – you will notice a click.
♦ Switch on the television and any connected amplification device and set
these to a moderate overall volume level.
♦ Turn the microphone controllers MIC1
and MIC2 and also the
ECHO control anti-clockwise as far as they will go.
♦ Insert the supplied karaoke DVD
and start playback.
♦ Switch the on/off switch for the microphone signal
for the microphone
being used to the ON position and start singing. Turn the corresponding
microphone control and/or slowly to the right until you are happy
with the volume ratio between the accompanying music and your singing.
To adjust this ratio, you can also use the volume control for the accompany-
ing music MUSIC VOL
. Turn this dial clockwise to increase the volume of the
accompanying music. Turn the dial anticlockwise to decrease the volume.
♦ Set the desired volume on the television or amplifier.
♦ If required, you can now also turn the ECHO controller
clockwise to add
an echo effect to your singing.
♦ Some digital televisions add a slight delay to the sound signal which can be
distracting for the singer. If this happens, either use a different television or
use a hi-fi system to output the sound.
