Information for these operating instructions
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance.
You have clearly decided in favour of a quality product. These
operating instructions are a component of the Programmable Water
Timer FBC 7 A1 (hereafter designated as the appliance) and they
provide you with important information about the intended use,
safety, connection and operation of the appliance.
These operating instructions must be constantly kept available close
to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone
assigned to operate the appliance and to eliminate faults in it.
Retain these operating instructions and pass them on, together with
the appliance, to any future owners.

This appliance is intended ONLY for non-commercial use to control
sprinklers and irrigation systems.
The appliance may only be used in outdoor areas.
This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond
those mentioned.

and/or other types of use.
Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes.
Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.
Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not

Safety
In this chapter you receive important safety information regarding
the handling of the appliance.
This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect
usage can, however, lead to personal and property damage.
Basic Safety Instructions
For safe handling of the appliance observe the
following safety information:
Before use check the appliance for visible external
damage. Do not take into operation an appliance
that is damaged or has been dropped.
This appliance may be used by children aged
8 over and by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experi-
ence and knowledge, provided that they are
under supervision or have been told how to use
of the appliance safely and are aware of the
potential risks. Children must not play with the
appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks
must not be carried out by children unless they
are supervised.

Repairs should be carried out ONLY by author-
ized specialist companies or by the Customer
Service Department. Incorrect repairs could
result in signifi cant risks for the user. In addition,
warranty claims would become void.
A repair to the appliance during the warranty
period may only be carried out by a repair and
servicing fi rm authorised by the manufacturer, if it
is not, additional warranty claims for subsequent
damages cannot be accepted.
Defective components may only be replaced with
original replacement parts. Only by using original
replacement parts can it be guaranteed that the
safety requirements are being complied with.
Avoid direct solar radiation.
Do not operate the appliance adjacent to open
ames.
Check the appliance and its supply lines at
regular intervals for watertightness and fault-free
functioning.

Interaction with batteries
WARNING
Risks from improper use!
For the safe handling of batteries observe the
following safety instructions:
Do not throw batteries into a fi re.
Never short-circuit batteries.
Do not attempt to recharge batteries.
Regularly check the condition of the batteries.
Leaking battery acid can cause permanent
damage to the appliance. Special caution
should be applied when handling damaged or
leaking batteries. Risks of acid burns!
Wear protective gloves.
Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children.
If one should be swallowed, seek medical atten-
tion IMMEDIATELY.
Remove the batteries from the appliance if you
are not planning to use it for an extended
period.

During the commissioning of the appliance per-
sonal injury and property damage could occur!
To avoid risks, pay heed to the following safety instructions:
Packaging material should not be used as a play thing.
There is a risk of suff ocation!
Items supplied and initial inspection
The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:
Watering Computer
Jumper (pre-installed)
Adapter 33.3 mm to 26.5 mm (G1” to G3/4”)
Coupling unit
2 Batteries 1.5 V Type AA

NOTICE
Check the contents to make sure everything is there and for
visible damage.
If the contents are incomplete, or have been damaged due
to defective packaging or transportation, contact the Service
Hotline (see chapter Service).

Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The
packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their en-
vironmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore
recyclable.
The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit
saves on raw material and reduces generated waste.
Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed
according to the regionally established regulations.
NOTICE
If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging
during the warranty period so that, in the case of a warranty
claim, you can package the appliance properly for return.
Requirements for the installation location
For the safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance the following
requirements must be met at the installation location:
The temperature of the water fl owing through it may be a max.
of 40°C.
Use only clean freshwater.
Connect the appliance perpendicularly, with the hose connection
underneath.
Minimum operating temperature +5°C.

Connecting the appliance
IMPORTANT
This Programmable Water Timer may only be connected to a
drinking water outlet fi tted with a safety device that corresponds
to at least TYPE HD as per EN 1717 (non-return valve with
pipe ventilation).
Appropriate adapters are commercially available.
NOTICE
The appliance is equipped with a coupling nut

for water
taps with a 33.3 mm thread (G1"). The adapter

is used to
connect the appliance to water taps with a 26.5 mm thread
(G ³/₄"). Should leaks/spills be encountered when using the
adapter
11
, it is recommended that you wrap the thread of
the tap with Tefl on sealing tape.
For a 26,5 mm thread (G ³⁄₄”): Screw the adapter 11 onto the
water tap.
Screw the coupling nut 6 onto the thread of the water tap
resp. the adapter.
Screw the coupling unit 12 onto the hose connection. You can
the connect a hose to the coupling unit.
Open the water tap.

Connecting the rain sensor
IMPORTANT
A jumper 7 is inserted in the terminals 8 on delivery. It must
always be inserted if you are not connecting a rain sensor,
otherwise the programmed watering cannot take place.
If the jumper is lost, you can bend a new jumper into shape
using standard commercial wire or a paperclip.
NOTICE
An example of a compatible rain sensor is the Kärcher rain
sensor no. 2.645-037. You should also observe the operat-
ing instructions for the rain sensor.
Please also note that structural changes to the rain sensor
connecting plug will result in the loss of warranty.
Push the two levers for unlocking the terminals 8 upwards and
remove the jumper 7.
Insert the cable ends of the rain sensor into the terminals 8
and then clamp them fi rmly by pushing the two levers back
down again.

Inserting/replacing the batteries
Unlock the battery compartment and pull the battery compart-
ment down and out of the appliance.
Remove the discharged batteries.
Insert 2 Type AA batteries (LR06-Mignon) into the battery
compartment. Ensure that the polarities are correct.
Push the battery compartment back in the appliance until it
clicks into place.
The display is switched on, the system time starts at 0:00 and
the hour display blinks for a short time.

Operation/Programming
In this chapter you will receive important information about the
operation and programming of the appliance.
General information
By pressing the button M 3 you activate the programming
mode. You can either carry out all settings in succession or,
by repeatedly pressing the button M 3, switch between the
following setting options:
System time (actual time/weekday)
Water fl ow in %
Time for the next watering
Duration of the watering
Watering interval
Standby (Programming mode terminated and watering
programme active).
After about 1 minute without input the appliance returns to
standby mode.All values already programmed are retained.
By pressing the button ON/OFF 5 the programming mode can
be terminated at any time. All values already programmed are
retained.
Programming the appliance

Press the button M 3 once. The hour indicator and the clock
symbol blink.
Using the rotary knob 2 enter in the required value and press
the button 4. The minute indicator and the clock symbol
blink.

Using the rotary knob 2 enter in the required value and press
the button 4. The clock symbol and a triangle blink
before the currently programmed weekday.
Using the rotary knob 2 enter in the weekday and press the
button 4. The symbol % and the currently programmed
value for the water fl ow blink.

NOTICE
The setting for the water fl ow aff ects the watering duration:
0%: Watering deactivated.
<100%: Watering duration reduced by the set factor.
=100%: Watering duration as set
>100%: Watering duration extended by the set factor.
Repeatedly press the button M 3 until the symbol % and the
currently set level for the water fl ow blink (not necessary if you
have already programmed the system time).
Using the rotary knob 2 enter in the required value and press
the button 4. The indicator Next Watering and the
time indicator blink.

Time for the next watering
Repeatedly press the button M 3 until the indicator Next
Watering and the hour indicator blink (not necessary if you
have already programmed the water fl ow).
Using the rotary knob 2 enter in the required value and press

Watering frequency ( H or I)
NOTICE
You can set the watering frequency via the watering interval
(I) or via the day of the week (
H
).
Watering interval ( )
Repeatedly press the button M 3 until the indicator for setting
the watering frequency blinks (not necessary if you have already
programmed the time for the next watering duration).
Using the rotary knob 2 set the required watering interval:
8h/12h/24h (every 8/12/24 hours) resp. 2nd/3rd/5th/
7th (every 2nd/3rd/5th/7th day).
Press the button 4. The programming mode is terminated
and the watering programme is active.
Weekday ( )
Repeatedly press the button M 3 until the indicator for setting
the watering frequency blinks (not necessary if you have already
programmed the time for the watering duration).
Using the rotary knob 2 select, one after the other, each day
of the week and then decide, by repeatedly pressing the button
4, if on this day a watering will take place (symbol
is indicated) or not (symbol is not indicated).
Press the button M 3 to complete the programming. The program-
ming mode is terminated and the watering programme is active.
