Options for connecting video-/audio sources
Additional audio-/video sources, with or without MI 5000 multimedia interface box, have
varying configurations which require different connection procedures – see installation in-
structions.
Connection to PC 5000 (without interface box)
When the TV tuner is connected to the MS 5000 system without an MI 5000 multimedia
interface box, additional audio/video sources must be connected to the TV tuner.
The following equipment can be connected:
a camera (reversing camera, see “RV 5100 reversing camera / RV 5100 (PAL/50Hz)” on
page 21) to the ”CAMERA INPUT” socket
a PAL video or audio source (VCR, DVD, games console etc.) to the AV input
("A/V INPUT")
The
TV/CA/AV
key of the TV remote control can be used to switch between the various
sources (see also “Switching between sources (TV/CA/AV)” on page 12).
1 If a correctly installed reversing camera is installed, the switchover to the camera
image is performed automatically when the reverse gear is engaged.
Connecting tuners using a MI 5000 multimedia interface box
The preferred method is to connect the TV tuner to the AV input 1 of the MI 5000 multi-
media interface box. This mode allows an automatic switchover to the TV image when the
TV tuner is switched on.
For switching between the sources connected to the interface box, the remote control of
the navigation system should be operated as follows:
1. Where necessary, select "TV/Video" in the start menu of the navigation system and
confirm with the
OK
key.
2. The video source can be selected by repeatedly pressing either the
REP
or the key.
1 A reversing camera is linked to a previously installed MI 5000 multimedia interface
box by connecting it to the appropriate connection socket of the CONTROL cable of the
box. This will ensure that the switchover to the camera image which follows any shift
into reverse gear will remain effective while the navigation system is in operation.
For this purpose, the reversing signal from the gearbox must be correctly connected to
the interface box (see MI 5000 installation instructions).
For further details about operating procedures and possible connections, please consult
the operating instructions for the MI 5000 multimedia interface box.

OPERATION
12
Switching between sources (TV/CA/AV)
Press the
TV/CA/AV
key to perform the following sequence of switchovers between dis-
plays of the TV image and the sources connected to the tuner:
TV > CA (reversing camera) > AV (AV input) > TV > ...
The relevant abbreviations is displayed briefly in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
TV sound output via the car radio
Many car radios are designed to allow an external audio source to be connected. TV sound
can then be output (additionally) via the vehicle loudspeakers.
Please consult the installation instructions for more details about connecting such sources.

Maintenance and Care
Cleaning the remote control
Do not use cleaning petrol, spirits or other solvents for cleaning. An anti-static cloth is
most suitable for cleaning; if necessary, a damp cloth may also be used.
Changing batteries for remote control
To replace the batteries in the remote control:
1. Open the battery compartment on the
back of the remote control.
2. Remove the flat batteries.
1 In many countries, flat batteries may
not be disposed of together with the nor-
mal domestic rubbish. Please determine
how to dispose of flat batteries in accord-
ance with local regulations.
3. Insert two new Type AAA (micro) batteries. Ensure correct polarity (marked in the
battery compartment).
A
Use only leak-proof batteries. Battery leakage can cause damage to the remote control
or to your car.
4. Close the battery compartment.
Never expose the remote control to direct sunlight or extreme heat. The batteries
discharge at high temperatures and there is a risk of leakage.
